About the Role

The Product Engineering team builds the platform that enables other companies to utilize PI's models, providing access to models and associated services for robotics companies, similar to how developers interact with API-based LLMs. This role involves owning the product surface partners interact with, including remote inference, inference client, data ingestion APIs, and deployment integrations, enabling partners to go from raw data to a deployed, evaluated model with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Build the platform for partners to access PI's models, fine-tuning, remote inference, and related services.
Ingest partner data end to end, from initial samples to validated data and evaluation checkpoints.
Deploy and serve partner models via remote inference endpoints.
Act as an embedded engineer in partner engagements, debugging deployments and translating partner needs into product features.
Write production-quality code that interfaces with PI's infrastructure.
Translate research advances into deployable systems and communicate real-world failure modes to research and engineering teams.

Requirements

Exceptional generalist software engineer with a track record of shipping fast and owning results end to end.
Strong backend and systems design instincts.
Understanding of how to run inference with models.
Ability to work effectively directly with partners and researchers.
Strong engineering skills, including clean Python and infrastructure interfacing.
Sharp debugging instincts.
Ability to design and defend scalable systems (databases, caching, APIs, services).
Sufficient ML knowledge to deploy, serve, and debug models.
A practical, ownership mindset focused on end-to-end functionality.
Clear communication skills with researchers, operators, and partners.
Comfort with ambiguity and on-site, embedded partner work.
