About the Role

Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to facilitate customer adoption of its products and collaborate on complex technical challenges. This role is integral to the Applied AI Engineering team, ensuring successful deployment of Mistral AI products by working with customers from pre-sale to post-implementation.

Responsibilities

• Onboard customers onto products and APIs, providing guidance on prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning.
• Ensure optimal production integration with back-end and front-end interfaces.
• Work on state-of-the-art GenAI applications for consumer and industrial use cases.
• Individually deploy into production use cases with significant business impact across various industries.
• Collaborate with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects.
• Contribute to open-source codebases for tasks like inference and fine-tuning.
• Participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with product and science teams to improve product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.

Requirements

• Fluent in English.
• Hold a PhD or Master's degree in AI or Data Science.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) on AI-based products.
• Experience in Fine Tuning LLMs, tackling advanced RAG or agentic use cases.
• Deep understanding of concepts and algorithms underlying machine learning and LLMs.
• Experience building and deploying LLMs or NLP applications.
• Proven experience in AI or machine learning product implementation with APIs, back-end and front-end interfaces.
• Strong technical coding skills in Python.
• Experience with deep learning using PyTorch.
• Experience with agents frameworks like Langchain and vector databases.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contributed to open-source projects, particularly in the LLM space (ideal).
• Experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager (ideal).
