About the Role
Mott MacDonald is seeking a finance professional to support and guide Project Managers and Project Teams to drive positive revenue performance and maximize profit. This role involves interpreting metrics and KPIs, setting up tracking methodologies, and potentially leading a team of Project Accountants. The position requires independent decision-making and the application of advanced techniques.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of a finance project or program using appropriate methodologies.
- Provide strong project finance/accounting support, focusing on project setup, budgets, funding, margin expectations, and resourcing within Connect Business.
- Assist in proposals to ensure Group required ROI metrics are achieved.
- Provide risk contingency analysis and monitoring support.
- Review financial sections of contracts.
- Review, track, and enter change orders.
- Review subconsultant financial data, invoices, and track budgets.
- Coordinate billing, review invoices, and manage workflow to improve DWCO.
- Analyze working capital to ensure WIP is billed and debts are collected to drive positive cash flow.
- Coordinate with clients on financial compliance, invoice submission, and timely payments.
- Track budgets against plans, review costs, analyze non-billables, and review credit memos.
- Evaluate revenue recognition, trend earned value, forecast, and compile other key project indicators.
- Support monthly progress reviews from a financial perspective.
- Provide financial reporting on project revenue and working capital to Unit leadership.
- Provide CRM data mining and maintenance support for Unit leadership.
- Perform reconciliations in Connect Business as needed.
- Support project claims as needed.
- Provide internal and external audit support.
- Manage the project close-out process in Connect Business.
- Support and drive major KPIs with Unit/Division leadership.
- Attend commercial review meetings to evaluate financial performance.
- Explore opportunities for automation and the use of digital tools for improved efficiency.
- Implement business analytics dashboards such as PowerBI Dashboards, Power Automate, and Power Apps for Business Process Automation.
- Communicate effectively, demonstrate attention to detail, manage time effectively, and solve problems.
- Be a team player, flexible, and willing to travel.
Requirements
- BS or BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CPA, CGA, CMA, FCCA license or equivalent desired.
- 12-15 or more years of corporate accounting experience, specifically with project accounting.
- Experience within the industry preferred.
- Management experience, including supervising and coordinating responsibilities.
- Effective communicator with good presentation skills and leadership qualities.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel - Advanced Level).
- Proficiency with business analytics tools.
- Must be a team player, flexible and willing to travel.

- Arlington: $113,850 - $139,150
- Chicago: $106,821 - $130,559
