About the Role

The Rehabilitation Aide performs routine therapeutic activities such as gait maintenance and exercise programs, baseline modalities, assisting with the daily scheduling of department treatments, maintenance of the department environment, and documentation. This role is crucial in supporting aging adults and adults with disabilities to maintain their quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Performing basic range of motion, routine therapeutic activities, and exercise as outlined by therapist(s)
• Providing functional transfer training and assisting with activity of daily living tasks
• Conducting specialized exercise groups
• Maintaining physical therapy ambulation programs
• Providing modalities as outlined by treatment plan
• Completing daily documentation, including flow sheets and computer documentation
• Preparing new participant treatment flow sheets and ongoing monthly flow sheets
• Preparing the daily treatment schedule board
• Monitoring client’s equipment and reporting the need for minor repair and/or equipment ordering
• Attending department meetings and completing all routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including laundry, clinic equipment, inventory supplies, and rehab supplies
• Actively participating in and encouraging actions that promote good public relations with participants, their families, friends, and visitors
• Performing all other reasonably related jobs as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED Equivalence
• 1 year of experience working with a geriatric population
• Ability to speak English clearly and comprehend complex materials
• Knowledge of body mechanics, basic anatomy, physiology, and basic medical terminology
• Interest in geriatric rehabilitation and previous geriatric rehabilitation experience
• Ability to work and interact in an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to follow directions without constant supervision
• Strong time management and computer literacy skills
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push, pull, or maneuver up to 50 pounds
• Ability to reach, bend, and walk
• Five finger dexterities

Experience Level

• 1 year of experience working with a geriatric population

Education Level

• High school diploma or GED Equivalence
