About the Role

The IT System Administrator I provides hands-on, in-office support for core IT systems, cloud services, virtual machines, and SaaS platforms under the guidance of senior administrators. This role supports identity and access management, Windows virtual machine administration, SaaS application access, and foundational networking, requiring a consistent on-site presence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Active Directory administration, including users, groups, OUs, and basic Group Policy tasks
  • Support Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) user lifecycle management
  • Perform password resets, MFA troubleshooting, and access changes
  • Assist with file shares, NTFS permissions, and access reviews
  • Assist with administration and support of Windows-based virtual machines
  • Perform routine VM tasks such as user access changes, service restarts, patch coordination, and basic performance/availability checks
  • Assist with VM provisioning, decommissioning, and documentation
  • Escalate OS-level, performance, or application issues appropriately
  • Support day-to-day administration of enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Provision and deprovision user access based on role, approval, and documented procedures
  • Troubleshoot SaaS access issues involving SSO, MFA, permissions, and integrations
  • Perform periodic access reviews and assist with vendor coordination for SaaS support issues
  • Provide on-site support for Windows laptops and desktops
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 services
  • Support endpoint management tools such as Intune, patching, and endpoint security agents
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting
  • Assist with switches, access points, and firewall-related tasks
  • Escalate complex network issues to Network Administrators
  • Respond to incidents and service requests through the IT ticketing system
  • Follow security, access control, and change management standards
  • Assist with audits, access attestations, and compliance documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours maintenance as required
  • Maintain accurate system, VM, and SaaS documentation
  • Document incidents, changes, and troubleshooting steps
  • Work closely with IT Support, Network Administration, Security, and Application Owners

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Up to 2 years of experience may substitute for degree)
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or help desk roles
  • Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Entra ID fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with SaaS user access management
  • Foundational understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Experience supporting Windows virtual machines in on prem or cloud environments (Preferred)
  • Experience with SaaS platforms such as Zoom, Zendesk, Oracle, or Jira (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with SSO protocols (SAML, OIDC) (Preferred)
  • Experience with Intune or endpoint management solutions (Preferred)
  • Microsoft AZ 900 / MS 900 certification (Preferred)
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification (Preferred)
