Responsibilities

  • Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patients or other healthcare providers.
  • Refills medication following the ARC refill protocols.
  • Accurately and completely rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, and prepares patients for provider examination.
  • Follows clinic protocols and directions from nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Performs diagnostic testing including EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with appropriate reporting and documentation.
  • Monitors inventory of medical and/or office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stocking and that supplies are current and not expired. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Reviews Provider refill in basket and assists with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
  • Reviews EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
  • Cleans patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
  • Ensures laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
  • May assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after the exam. Reports and documents appropriately.
  • Maintains equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.).
  • Adheres to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company.
  • Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.
  • Provides patients with educational materials as directed.
  • Administers medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice.
  • Responsible for reviewing result note in basket and calling/informing patients of normal lab results.
  • Reviews provider instructions regarding abnormal results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet one of the following: Medical Assistant experience, CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire.

  • Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
