About the Role

The 310T Certified Technician will maintain diesel equipment and hydrovac operation through inspections, preventive maintenance, adjustments, and alignments. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of diesel equipment, supporting the organization's operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment, including preventative maintenance like oil changes and greasing.
  • Conducts safety checks on trucks.
  • Maintains clear communication with Branch Manager, Regional Fleet Staff, and other maintenance department staff.
  • Keeps the fleet operational by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Updates job knowledge through educational opportunities and by reading technical and regulation publications.
  • Occasionally performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work according to established procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certification.
  • Class B CDL license is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; G license required.
  • Some knowledge with electronic diagnostics.
  • Experience with Peterbilt and Western Star chassis is a plus.
  • Experience with troubleshooting Hydrovac equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations, and safety is helpful.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems is a plus.
  • Computer literate: Fleetio, Microsoft, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret work orders and technical manuals in both paper and PC-based formats.
  • Proven experience in maintaining surplus inventory, stocking parts, and managing equipment supply orders.
  • Required to provide own standard tools; all specialty tools will be provided.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and with customers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to stay calm under pressure.
  • Demands include frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to crawl under vehicles, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, stand or kneel on cement floors.
  • Regularly lift or move heavy objects such as tires, rims, and brake drums.
  • Regularly required to lift or move objects weighing 25 to 50 lbs, with moderate grasping, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
