About the Role
As the Active Living Manager, you are an energetic, vibrant, and creative leader responsible for enhancing the quality of life for residents by developing and implementing engaging programs. You will excel at building monthly calendars and newsletters, scheduling events, and evaluating program offerings to create an environment that promotes wellness, social interaction, and happiness.
Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing a wide range of engaging and meaningful programs.
- Building monthly calendars and newsletters.
- Scheduling events and live entertainment.
- Evaluating and improving overall program choices and offerings.
- Creating an environment that promotes wellness, social interaction, and overall happiness.
- Embodying core values and ensuring the team aligns with them.
- Growing and evaluating an active volunteer program.
- Leveraging the support of volunteers to meet the unique needs of the residence.
Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in recreation/active living.
- One (1) year of leadership experience working with mature adults and seniors in a related setting.
- Minimum 2-year post-secondary education in recreation/active living, leisure studies, gerontology, social services, kinesiology, health promotion, health sciences, or a related field.
- Certifications or training in gerontology, senior's fitness, Dementia/Alzheimer's, wellness interventions, SmartServe, Food Handling, and volunteer management are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of program adaptations and modifications for individuals with cognitive, physical, and sensory impairments.
- Current F Class/Class 4 license or ability to obtain.
- Current certification in CPR/first aid.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Creative and enthusiastic approach to program development and special event design.
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
