About the Role

Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the Security Guard creates a positive guest experience while maintaining a safe and secure environment on the grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive patrols of the grounds, inspect buildings, and monitor various security systems.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, liaise with emergency services, and take statements to secure information.
  • Execute operational plans based on specific events or grounds wide activities, including working with third-party security providers, Toronto Police, and other internal divisions.
  • Maintain daily records of all activities and incidents.
  • Inform relevant authorities of emergencies by activating emergency response systems and assist with evacuation procedures.
  • Perform parking enforcement duties and may be required to attend court.
  • Perform road closure and traffic control duties.
  • Enforce bylaws, Acts, Codes, and policies.
  • Escort the general public, staff, and cash assets.
  • Perform first aid and CPR.
  • Undertake special projects, assignments, and other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or a graduate of Post-Secondary Law Enforcement/Criminology program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess a valid Security Guard License.
  • Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License.
  • Possess standard first aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience in law enforcement and security operational procedures is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act.
  • Knowledge of emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Experience utilizing software packages (word processing, and electronic mail).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
