About the Role
Sumitomo is seeking a hands-on leader to supervise, coach, and develop the 2nd shift production team while driving accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate 2nd shift manufacturing activities to meet production goals safely and efficiently.
- Train, cross-train, coach, and develop team members.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Serve as a backup for team leads.
- Communicate department goals and objectives to the team.
- Resolve employee issues and conflicts, escalating to management as needed.
- Address real-time operational challenges.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and specifications to determine production processes.
- Conduct performance reviews for 2nd shift production staff.
Requirements
- Proven ability to lead a production team.
- Experience as a hands-on leader in fast-paced, evolving settings.
- Strong background in applying continuous improvement concepts.
- Ability to navigate diverse personalities and drive accountability.
- Supervisory experience in coaching, directing, and motivating employees.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced problem-solving skills for personnel and production challenges.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
