About the Role
Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support the enterprise-wide function from their New York City office. Responsibilities
- Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, and transformer size.
- Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm, and security systems.
- Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
- Determine schedules and details required for the project and review with the project engineer.
- Attend job meetings as required.
- Ensure flow of information between disciplines.
- Assist in writing reports and feasibility studies.
- Support developing electrical standards.
- Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
Requirements
- 7 to 10 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems (interior and exterior), and lighting controls.
- Familiarity with short circuit, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.
- Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable codes including energy conservation.
- Proficiency with Revit design software with at least 1 year of formal design use.
