About the Role
Arcadis is seeking an experienced technical Architect to join their transit team, focusing on major project delivery and managing smaller projects. This role offers the chance to work with a diverse client base and contribute to innovative problem-solving within a creative and collaborative team. You will coordinate design and construction phases, deliver architectural solutions, lead project elements independently, manage junior staff, and support studio management with programming and resourcing.
Responsibilities
- Support and lead projects with internal program and budget management, and effective time and resources management for your team.
- Engage in all project aspects: design development, working drawings, contract administration, and on-site services, supporting transit operator and contractor clients.
- Manage client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with other disciplines.
- Lead elements of large/complex projects or small projects independently, with or without a team.
- Maintain project documentation, drawings, and specifications; review submittals; capture and promote best practice and design knowledge within the Studio.
- Process change control requests during construction, address RFIs, and support proposal, submission, and presentation preparation.
- Interface with statutory authorities during project design and construction phases.
- Understand and adhere to procedures including quality management, environmental management systems, and health & safety.
- Resolve complex technical and design issues and contribute to technical design reviews across projects in the studio.
Requirements
- RIBA Part 3 qualified and ARB registered with a minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience.
- Experience with complex UK projects, working with contractors at detailed design and construction stages.
- Experience working on larger projects as part of a team and day-to-day leadership for smaller projects.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, design standards, and best practices, including Network Rail and London Underground/TfL standards and guidance.
- Working knowledge of CDM and Building Regulations Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
