About the Role
As Lead Economist for Industrial Policy (m/w/d), you will actively shape the economic, location, and trade policy framework for all of Roche's business activities in Germany. Within the External Affairs team of Roche Germany, you will provide the macroeconomic basis for strategic arguments in a volatile environment. You will foster an innovation-friendly investment climate through the company's political work and make our societal value contribution visible in the political arena. You will act as a valued partner for politics, business, and associations.
Responsibilities
- Drive strategic and operational evidence generation in the industrial healthcare policy sector independently.
- Conceive and manage health and macroeconomic analyses and scientific studies on Roche's footprint in Germany.
- Anchor the industrial healthcare sector as a key industry in close coordination with relevant public bodies at federal and state levels.
- Prepare association and committee meetings content-wise and support management in top associations like BDI, VCI, and vfa.
- Take over technical and commercial management of external economic research institutes, including budget responsibility.
- Represent Roche's interests in strategic committees and further develop regional dialogue platforms and alliances.
- Analyze global market dynamics and legislative proposals and develop solutions for bureaucracy reduction.
- Act as a business partner for internal functions such as pipeline strategy, communication, and site management.
Requirements
- Possess an agile Product Owner mindset, can prioritize rigorously, and intensively use modern AI tools.
- Successfully completed university studies in economics or a comparable field; a doctorate or MBA is an advantage.
- Several years of sound experience in Public Affairs, Government Relations, economic research institutes, or strategic association work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare system and industrial value chains; ideally, you can also create economic analyses yourself.
- Excellent German and English language skills.
- Ability to precisely present complex regulatory and economic issues at C-level and political levels.
- Strong team player spirit for networked work in cross-functional matrix structures.
