About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Deutschland is seeking a Finance Officer for German Programs, to be based in Berlin or remote nationwide. This role is part-time or full-time (32-40 hours/week) and initially fixed for one year, starting September 2026. The position supports the German Programs team in managing project finances and ensuring compliance with donor guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly internal budget analyses for ongoing projects.
  • Create interim and final reports according to donor guidelines, particularly for public donors like EU-funded programs.
  • Review ongoing project-related expenses, their accounting, and cost center allocation, ensuring compliance with relevant donor guidelines and correct allocation of own contributions.
  • Collaborate closely with other finance departments to ensure smooth processing of general financial processes, especially in the internal financial software 'Integra' (based on Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Train project staff in budget and expense management and the correct application of IRC guidelines.

Requirements

  • A university degree recognized in Germany, preferably in Finance, NGO Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least two years of professional experience in finance, ideally in project financing/third-party fund management or a comparable position at a non-profit organization.
  • Experience with the administration of funded projects.
  • Advanced proficiency and routine use of Excel.
  • German and English language skills at a minimum B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics software or comparable systems.
  • Careful work with a good eye for detail.
  • Reliable and team-oriented work approach.

Salary/Compensations

  • Starting salary of 46,634 EUR gross per year (for full-time, 40 hrs/week) with annual salary adjustments.
