About the Role

This role is the first in Nothing's data function, tasked with building the necessary infrastructure to solve critical data problems. You will work directly with leadership across product, supply chain, commercial, and finance, with the autonomy to architect, engineer, and strategize the data solutions. The objective is to create clean, normalized data that supports current decision-making and future AI ambitions.

Responsibilities

• Map the company's highest-priority data use cases within the first 30–60 days by interviewing cross-functional leaders.
• Design and build targeted pipelines to connect ERP, HRIS, Android/app telemetry, and bespoke trackers into a coherent data layer.
• Own the end-to-end architecture, including writing code, making tooling decisions, and ensuring accountability for built solutions.
• Identify technical overlaps across use cases and group them into a pragmatic build sequence, avoiding isolated hacks and over-engineered warehouses.
• Ensure the data foundation is clean and normalized to support future internal company brain and agentic workflows.
• Evaluate and select modern, lightweight tooling that accelerates timelines and avoids locking into legacy platforms.
• Define standards for 'good data,' including quality controls and documentation for usability by others.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on engineering skill, including writing code and building pipelines.
• Proven track record in complex environments such as hybrid hardware/software companies, scaling fintechs, or multi-system organizations.
• Fluency in modern agentic and LLM workflows, with a clear understanding of AI data layer requirements.
• Commercial instincts, framing work in terms of enabled decisions and revenue generated.
• Strong judgment regarding when to build robust architecture versus scrappier pipelines.
• Experience connecting disparate systems (ERP, HRIS, mobile telemetry, operational trackers) into clean, reliable outputs.
• Comfort operating as a senior-level individual contributor without direct reports, enjoying detailed work.
