About the Role

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer/CFD Engineer with a specialization in Computational Fluid Dynamics for tunnels, ideally railways, to join their MEP engineering team. This role requires strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and commercial awareness to contribute to a dynamic, high-performance team. The engineer will be responsible for delivering CFD designs for MEP projects, including high-speed rail.

Responsibilities

Develop solutions for tunnel ventilation for MEP projects, including high-speed rail.
Produce MEP designs as instructed by the projects Contractor's Responsible Engineer and/or Lead Engineer.
Ensure designs are completed to meet Lead Engineers' requirements.
Ensure designs are completed to the timescales agreed with the Lead Engineer.
Plan allocated design works to meet agreed timescales.
Identify changes to project client requirements and raise them with the Lead Engineer.

Requirements

Degree qualified in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
Proven experience in using commercial CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, or STAR-CCM+.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics and CFD workflows, including geometry preparation, meshing, solver setup, and post-processing.
Ability to interpret simulation results and communicate findings clearly in reports and presentations.
Experience leading CFD studies.
Experience mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical work, and providing technical guidance.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.
Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices.
Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards.
Previous consultancy environment experience is advantageous.
Significant engineering design and site experience in a similar consultancy or contractor organization is advantageous.
