About the Role
Kitware is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, compliance-driven environment and is interested in contributing beyond traditional accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous process improvement across the Finance function.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and file state and local tax filings, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions
- Conduct technical accounting and tax research to ensure compliance with evolving state regulations and government requirements
- Draft, review, and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with GAAP and applicable government regulations
- Develop a strong understanding of adjacent finance functions (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Customer Cost Proposals)
- Recommend process improvements and efficiencies
- Provide backup support during peak periods, absences, or business needs
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent application of financial controls and policies
- Translate regulatory and technical requirements into clear, actionable internal processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong foundation in GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with multi-state tax compliance (sales/use tax, gross receipts, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to independently research complex accounting or tax issues and implement solutions
- Experience developing or improving policies and procedures in a regulated environment
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and accountability
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical guidance into practical application
