About the Role

Mistral is seeking a Research Ops Manager to build and operate shared systems that enable the science organization to operate efficiently at scale. This role focuses on the platform layer of Science Ops, including compute, data, access, vendor, and tooling systems, ensuring researchers can focus on science rather than infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate shared infrastructure for research, including resource systems, data systems, tooling, and observability.
  • Design the operational layer to enable science scaling without drag.
  • Build internal automations using modern coding tools, such as dashboards, integrations, self-service tooling, and alerts.
  • Own the operational aspects of growing the science organization, including interview logistics, leveling consistency, and onboarding experience.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Security, and Engineering on systems where science intersects with the company.
  • Translate the team's work into clear updates for leadership and adjacent teams, detailing progress, significance, and future plans.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in research operations, technical operations, infrastructure program management, or a comparable systems-oriented role.
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to identify processes, dependencies, and leverage points.
  • Demonstrated ability to build own tools and automations using modern coding assistants; comfortable with scripting, APIs, and lightweight data work.
  • Experience working with infrastructure, cloud systems, or vendor management at scale.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to design clear operational processes.
