About the Role
Provides receptionist and clerical support to ensure patient flow, comfort, and satisfaction. This role involves managing patient arrivals, handling administrative tasks, and supporting office staff within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients, initiates paperwork, and completes registration.
- Verifies insurance, collects co-payments and outstanding balances, and establishes payment plans.
- Processes electronic and manual insurance verification and obtains pre-authorizations when necessary.
- Updates patient charts, obtains signatures, files paperwork, and notifies clinical staff of patient arrival.
- Answers multi-line phone system, screens calls, and directs them appropriately.
- Provides general office and clerical support, including faxing, completing forms (disability, FMLA, etc.), and processing record releases.
- Manages industrial claims in the EMR system.
- Assists in organizing and filing patient charts, including scanning and docutracking information.
- Attends staff meetings and continuing education seminars.
- Sorts, distributes, and mails transcription.
- Orders and stocks office supplies.
- Ensures office equipment is clean and well-maintained.
- Provides support to appropriate staff members as assigned.
- Focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency in performing job duties as a High Reliability Organization (HRO).
Requirements
- High School or GED required.
- 1-2 years previous secretarial experience in a health care or medical office, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
