About the Role

Circle is seeking a Lead KYC Utility Analyst to join its Compliance Operations team. This role involves conducting complex reviews and projects within the KYC team, managing the end-to-end KYC lifecycle, and ensuring platform safety through in-depth customer investigations and continuous monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed assessments of complex customers for risk of money laundering, financial crimes, and terrorist financing through thorough review and enhanced due diligence.
• Perform ongoing monitoring of customers, including counterparty compliance calls and assessment of transactional activity.
• Partner with key internal stakeholders to monitor client relationships and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Recommend appropriate risk-based business actions for customer onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
• Complete written reports of findings, including comprehensive details, narratives, and recommendations.
• Identify customer risk appetite and make appropriate onboarding/rejection decisions.
• Recommend courses of action to management based on analysis of findings.
• Ensure high standards of documentation and quality in onboarding and periodic review processes.
• Stay updated on regulatory, compliance, and enforcement developments in the cryptocurrency industry.
• Drive standardization and optimization of KYC workflows across regions.
• Support technology teams in defining requirements for KYC systems and tools.
• Monitor and analyze KYC metrics to identify trends and propose solutions for operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience in AML and KYC reviews for corporates.
• 2+ years in crypto, preferably in onboardings requiring specialized due diligence.
• Deep understanding of blockchain technology.
• First-class investigative capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems, generate hypotheses, coordinate research and analysis, manipulate data, conduct analysis, and synthesize insight.
• Strategic thinking and tactical initiative to drive continuous improvement.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally and driving results with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven experience working collaboratively and effectively with multiple internal teams.
• Experience and comfort working in an ever-changing industry with flexibility to react to changing demands.
• Strong communication skills and presence, ability to interface with internal and external teams.
• Experience working effectively in a fully remote environment with teams spanning multiple time zones.
• Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite.
