About the Role
As an S&C Electric Canada team member, you’ll work on tasks and projects that have real-world impact, helping to transform the grid for resilient and reliable power worldwide. Responsibilities
- Prepare production drawings and bills of material for vista manufacturing per CSA/ANSI/UL standard, using theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering concepts, materials, electrical and mechanical systems, and their components for manufacturing.
- Design steel details, steel assemblies, bus details, bus assemblies and bills of material for manufacturing in MicroStation and Solid Edge.
- Prepare and issue engineering change notices and orders for product release and engineering design change.
- Produce custom Vista production drawings in a timely fashion adhering to internal drawing standards and production schedule.
- Produce engineering design packages ready for final checking and review in line with group practices and project requirements.
- Analyze and recommend potential applications and custom features.
- Support other departments in process of production such as manufacturing, welding, and final assembly.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a similar field.
- 3 -5 years of experience designing switchgear or equivalent mechanical design experience.
- Proficient knowledge of 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD and 3D Solid Edge
- Knowledge of sheet metal, drafting and design
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques
- Strong communication skills, attention to details, a high level of personal organization and a strong interpersonal skill are required
- Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with preparing medium-voltage protection drawing
- Intermediate Knowledge of CSA, IEEE, and NEMA standard for switchgear
- Ability to work closely with Mechanical and Electrical Designers to complete projects adhering to scheduled timelines
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
