About the Role

City Harvest is seeking a self-motivated Hunts Point Coordinator (Part-Time) responsible for managing existing donors, setting up pallets for drivers, and securing additional food donations from Hunts Point in the Bronx. The role involves working closely with drivers, operations teams, and external donors to ensure produce meets quality standards and providing daily donation recaps.

Responsibilities

  • Visit each wholesaler and canvass daily at the Hunts Point Terminal Produce Cooperative for donations, ensuring donors receive consistently excellent and responsive support.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to existing and potential donors.
  • Inspect all produce being offered, accepting only product that meets City Harvest donation standards.
  • Stage pallets for drivers where possible, ensuring the location doesn’t interfere with donor operations.
  • Communicate regularly with the City Harvest Transportation and Logistics Team regarding driver arrival and departure times.
  • Coordinate with each driver upon entry to the market providing the bay number for each donation ensuring produce loaded onto trucks matches agreed donation.
  • Provide a clear and timely recap of produce being donated from each wholesaler to internal teams including produce type, weights and rescue timing.
  • Solicit donations from new vendors within the Hunts Point region to expand donations.

Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years experience in Warehouse, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service or other related industry.
  • 1+ year experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Self-starter who is target-driven and motivated.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Able to operate an electric pallet jack to move full pallets of produce in a busy warehouse.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and make time-bound decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to provide updates and feedback while working in the field.
  • Ability to work outside in varying temperatures, walk long distances, squat and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to travel by car, bus, and airplane.
  • Ability to walk during long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes (e.g. 35+ lbs. of produce).
