About the Role
As a key member of the Service team, the Small Engines Mechanic plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair defective small engines on rental equipment
- Diagnose, service, and maintain QA rental equipment
- Diagnose and repair customer-owned tools and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on both fleet and customer equipment
- Maintain and service small-engine-related equipment
- Load and unload customer rental equipment and explain operating instructions
- Maintain the yard and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner
- Support branch operations by performing additional duties as assigned
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure timely repairs and service delivery
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and efficient work environment
- Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmentally sound practices
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Small Engines Technician or similar role
- Experience working on 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines
- Experience with construction heaters, small electrical tools, forklifts, and aerial lifts
- Experience with Stihl, Echo, Hilti, Husqvarna, Gorman-Rupp, Tsurumi, and Honda products
- Experience with Motorcycle, ATV/UTV, or Snowmobiles
- Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50lbs
- Commitment to safe work practices and health and safety policies
- Flexibility to support on-call schedules
- Ability to train apprentices
- Ownership of personal tools
