About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and versatile Site Technician to support the daily operations of our data center in Berlin. This hands-on role is essential for ensuring uptime, supporting customer deployments, managing physical infrastructure and connectivity operations, and maintaining smooth and secure facility performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on critical systems, including power, cooling, and BMS.
- Monitor building management systems (BMS), identify anomalies or alarms, and take corrective actions.
- Support customer installations, cross-connects, remote hands activities, and troubleshooting requests.
- Ensure proper cable management, accurate labelling, and clear documentation of all customer-related activities.
- Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors for repairs and scheduled maintenance.
- Request quotes and budgets for required work, and verify vendor completion reports.
- Maintain timely and accurate records of site activities, customer interventions, and incidents.
- Respond to urgent alarms and technical issues, both remotely and on-site, as part of an on-call rotation (one week at a time).
- Ensure strict adherence to operational, health & safety, and security procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the Data Center Lead and operations team to deliver seamless service.
Requirements
- Background in data centers or other critical environments such as maritime, offshore, oil & gas, or large-scale facilities.
- Technical knowledge across both mechanical/electrical systems and IT connectivity operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues under pressure.
- Basic understanding of IT networks, cabling standards, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Fluency in English or German is required; knowledge of both languages is a strong advantage.
- Flexibility to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
