About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist Head and Neck Cancer service in Central London. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist to provide expert assessment and intervention for patients experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties associated with head and neck cancer. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across the pathway.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing difficulties related to head and neck cancer.
Provide specialist assessment and intervention plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Work collaboratively with medical teams and wider multidisciplinary professionals to support patient outcomes.
Provide advice and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service development where appropriate.

Requirements

A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Previous experience working within a Head and Neck Cancer, oncology, acute, or specialist SLT setting.
Experience managing complex communication and swallowing needs.
Excellent communication, organisation, and clinical decision-making skills.
A proactive and adaptable approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
