About the Role
The Pastry Demi Chef reports directly to the Pastry Sous Chef – Pastry and offers an energetic and exciting hands-on approach to flawless product execution in an environment focused on safety and culinary excellence. This role is pivotal for The Star Sydney Pastry Kitchen’s success, creating unforgettable dessert experiences.
Responsibilities
- Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members
- Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
- Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
- Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Culinary School Graduate
- Received apprenticeship training in Pastry
- Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment
- 2 years of experience post apprenticeship in food preparation, preferably in a café, hotels or high-volume setting
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of relevant liquor laws
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
