About the Role

As a Senior Contracts Manager on the Legal Team, you will provide pragmatic legal support to various business departments, taking a lead role in customer-side contracting, including drafting, negotiation, and finalization of agreements. You will serve as a trusted legal point of contact for key customer relationships, ensuring minimal risk to Nomia and compliance with applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on complex, high-value, and strategically significant contracts and negotiations, serving as an escalation point and technical reference for the legal team.
  • Take a lead role in the customer-side contracting process, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing customer agreements to align commercial terms with customer requirements and Nomia's risk position.
  • Act as a senior legal point of contact for key customer relationships throughout the contract lifecycle, from pre-sales support to renewal.
  • Provide practical, commercial, and concise advice, guidance, and support on contract terms, legal issues, and business risks.
  • Review and amend terms in various agreements including supplier and customer contracts, software licenses, SaaS agreements, Purchase Order terms, EULAs, master service agreements, related SOWs, agency, and service provision agreements.
  • Negotiate with customers and suppliers in line with business requirements and company policies to achieve business objectives and the required allocation of risk.
  • Manage and maintain contracts registers and contract management systems.
  • Work closely with various departments to onboard new suppliers and customers.
  • Research legal and regulatory issues as they arise.
  • Instruct external legal counsel in non-UK jurisdictions or for specific legal expertise and apply the advice to the situation.
  • Create new business templates and keep existing business legal templates up-to-date and relevant.
  • Make a positive contribution towards the operation of the team by suggesting improvements for more effective or efficient operation.
  • Keep your line manager updated on your workload and any relevant business or role-related issues.
  • Understand and follow relevant team and business processes and procedures.
  • Develop as a contract manager and business person.
  • Utilize team training, research, precedent, and technology resources to optimize individual and team service delivery.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance, and update of internal policies and processes relating to the legal function.

Requirements

  • Legal training (e.g., law degree, LPC, GDL) and proven practical experience demonstrating a solid understanding and application of fundamental legal principles, particularly in relation to commercial contracts.
  • In-house experience across a range of commercial agreements, preferably in the IT industry, as a reseller for a multinational business.
  • Good knowledge of contract law and some knowledge of cross-border agreements and their complications.
  • A good understanding of data protection legislation and its relevance to commercial transactions.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Confidence in own skills to make decisions aligning with the law and business requirements.
  • Ability to operate to deadlines and prioritize workload for the benefit of the business.
  • Good business judgment, understanding commercial pressures and implications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate appropriately with key stakeholders without jargon or overly legalistic language.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and understandable communications including legal agreements, associated correspondence, and advice.
  • Computer literate with strong skills in the Office 365 suite.
  • Good negotiation skills to seek positive business outcomes and maintain positive relations with customers and suppliers.
  • Adaptable and able to work flexibly in the context of a medium-sized growing business.
  • A positive approach to work and a team-player, working collaboratively to share knowledge and workload appropriately and keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Adherence to Nomia's data protection and information security policies.
