About the Role
Pacmed is seeking a Senior (or Staff) Software Engineer to design, build, and ship the backend and infrastructure of their AI-powered healthcare product. This role involves owning architectural decisions, hands-on full-stack development, and mentoring colleagues, contributing to the company's mission of making healthcare accessible and future-proof.
Responsibilities
- Own large technical decisions and designs, ensuring architecture is coherent, scalable, and suitable for a medical product.
- Develop software hands-on across the full stack, setting high quality standards.
- Coach and mentor colleagues through design reviews, pairing, and supporting internal growth.
- Contribute to and critically review work across the codebase to minimize single points of failure.
- Write and review professional, maintainable, well-tested code adhering to best practices for medical applications.
- Own large portions of the codebase, contributing to planning their expansion, integration, and maintenance.
- Utilize AI tooling responsibly to assist in code writing.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including hospital IT staff.
- Increase colleagues' knowledge in architecture, backend, and software quality.
- Participate in validation and verification activities according to medical and information security regulations.
- Be present in the office a couple of days per week for in-person collaboration.
Requirements
- Substantial experience (6+ years) designing and owning software architecture in production.
- Strong Python knowledge and software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
- Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred) and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- A coaching mindset with experience mentoring other engineers and a motivation for continuous learning and helping others grow.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Eligible to work in the Netherlands (EU).
