About the Role
The Financial Ombudsman Service is seeking an Information Rights Adviser for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role involves providing clear written and verbal responses to customer inquiries, reviewing large amounts of information, and making balanced decisions about data sharing in line with legislation. Responsibilities
- Provide clear written responses to customer inquiries.
- Speak to individuals over the phone to help them understand information processing.
- Review large amounts of information relating to different product areas daily.
- Ensure information is not disclosed inappropriately, adhering to legislation.
- Quickly learn and utilize company processes and redaction tools.
- Make balanced and measured decisions about information sharing and document the rationale.
- Identify and collaborate on complex or sensitive requests.
- Identify best practices and implement improvements for handling information requests.
- Work flexibly across the team based on demand.
Requirements
- Experience in a similar role focused on data protection, GDPR compliance, and SAR requests, ideally including employee SAR requests.
- Demonstrable experience dealing with service complaints.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess risks and provide solutions.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Proficiency in using data protection and privacy management software/tools.
- Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information quickly and effectively.
- Experience of working in the financial services sector.
