About the Role
Grant Thornton is seeking a Financial Reporting Assistant Manager in London or Reading to deliver specialist accounting advice, develop client relationships, and manage projects. The role involves applying technical accounting expertise to areas like GAAP conversions, financial statements preparation, and M&A activity, often collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist accounting advice to clients across a range of areas, whilst adding value to their commercial objectives.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and other members of the firm.
- Respond positively to change, visibly role modelling our values and behaviours.
- Manage projects on their own or with another team member to ensure they are delivered on time.
- Deliver on projects which focus on the application of technical accounting, for example GAAP conversions, preparation of financial statements, merger and acquisition activity, implementation support for new standards, group restructurings, and training.
- Control the project in relation to timescales, budgets, and risk management procedures.
- Consistently achieve deadlines and understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, gross margin, fee income and client service.
- Lead smaller assignments, taking responsibility for all aspects of planning, completion and review.
- Identify opportunities and prepares scope and quotes for small pieces of work.
Requirements
- A professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA) with post qualification experience.
- Confidence managing a large portfolio of audit clients.
Skills
- Technical accounting experience and knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Experience and knowledge of US GAAP and Companies Act favourable.
- Experience in leading and developing client relationships.
- Experience of leading teams and project management.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
