About the Role
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced international development Program Manager to join ASI’s dynamic Asia Pacific portfolio, playing a central role in delivering high-impact, results-focused development programs. You will manage complex, multi-stakeholder programs across various sectors and work across multiple countries, thriving in fast-paced, donor-funded environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage the implementation of DFAT/other donor funded programs, including smaller assignments.
- Ensure programs are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
- Deliver agreed outputs, including reports and presentations, meeting corporate guidelines and quality standards.
- Maintain stringent financial oversight of projects, including invoice payments and accurate reporting.
- Manage key stakeholders and build strong client relationships.
- Track and manage milestones, maintaining an issues and risk register, and elevating concerns.
- Prepare Terms of Reference and recruit associates, negotiating terms.
- Manage administration and logistics, including travel and visa arrangements for advisers.
- Support senior managers in project delivery.
- Support technical delivery where expertise and availability allow.
- Leverage networks and regional knowledge to build a pipeline of business development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a network of advisers and strategic partners.
- Contribute to bid preparation by providing inputs, research, and talent identification.
Requirements
- Demonstrated program management experience with progressively increasing responsibility in international development or government-funded environments.
- Proven experience working on DFAT-funded programs, including understanding DFAT policies, reporting, compliance, and donor engagement.
- Experience supporting or managing program budgets, financial forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
- Ability to work effectively across multicultural teams and stakeholders, building credible relationships.
- Sound understanding of local context, political economy, and cultural considerations in the Indo-Pacific region.
- Knowledge of risk management, duty of care, security, health and safety, and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and donor correspondence.
- Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to exercise judgment.
- Willingness to travel within the region.
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia.
