About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and build enterprise ETL pipelines and self-service data tooling using modern cloud technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust, flexible data solutions and insights, owning the end-to-end architecture, implementation, and orchestration of pipelines. This role focuses on evolving data systems to support monitoring and analysis for Planet’s Missions team and Constellation Services products.

Responsibilities

Develop and own robust, accurate data pipelines while maintaining and improving existing ones
Deliver self-service data tooling, visualizations, and insights to drive decision-making for CxS products
Collaborate with stakeholders and peers to define and develop the CxS data roadmap
Provide mentorship, technical design feedback, and code reviews for the team and broader organization

Requirements

6+ years of relevant experience
Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field
Experience designing and implementing end-to-end data architecture
Expertise in Python and SQL ETL pipeline buildout
Experience with modern data stack tools like Fivetran, dbt, and Looker/Omni/Sigma
Ability to work as a self-starter in a dynamic environment
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Experience with peer-reviewed code, CI/CD workflows, and tools like GitLab CI and Docker
Experience with cloud architectures such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS
Experience working with geospatial datasets and event-based data architectures
