Responsibilities
- Ensure employee compliance with safety and environmental systems through the auditing program.
- Conduct EH&S incident investigations and reporting.
- Lead site EH&S training.
- Monitor, maintain, and develop Company Safety programs.
- Serve as the primary contact with Toronto Water and MECP on environmental regulatory issues.
- Act as the primary contact for community concerns.
- Maintain and develop the internal EH&S auditing program.
- Be the main contact for the Fire Department and own the fire protection plan.
- Coordinate employee safety and JHSC meetings.
- Maintain and summarize key KPIs related to environmental issues.
- Monitor, maintain, and develop Company Environmental programs.
- Manage the effluent treatment system with a hands-on approach.
- Manage hazardous waste, waste, and recycling disposal contractors.
- Handle wastewater spill reporting.
- Complete CHEMTRAX reporting.
- Complete NPRI reporting.
- Complete EASR Reporting.
- Stay up-to-date on all Federal, Provincial, and Municipal reporting requirements.
- Manage building security (keys, key fobs, etc.).
- Update Nitta TV and physical bulletin boards.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Safety Standards (OHSA) and WHMIS.
- Experience with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal environmental regulations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Environmental and Safety Standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong knowledge of municipal sewer by-laws is preferred but not necessary.
- Experience conducting safety audits and inspections and developing and implementing corrective action plans.
- Strong training and communication skills.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Experience investigating incidents and accidents and developing and implementing preventive measures.
- Intermediate level MS Office skills are mandatory.
- Advanced level MS Office skills are an asset.
