About the Role

Lead the day-to-day management and close-out of operational defects across the Sydney Metro network, ensuring issues are assessed, prioritised and resolved safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations and operational requirements. Working across multiple workstreams, you'll play a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable and high-performing infrastructure that supports exceptional customer outcomes. You'll work closely with operators, contractors, delivery partners and internal stakeholders to drive outcomes and remove barriers to defect resolution. This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong stakeholder engagement, influencing skills and the ability to bring together diverse perspectives to solve complex operational and technical challenges. Every day offers something different, providing exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines, asset types and business priorities. Reporting to senior leaders and regularly engaging with executive stakeholders, you'll provide clear oversight of risks, progress and key issues, ensuring timely decision-making and accountability across the network. In doing so, you'll contribute directly to protecting public investment, improving asset performance and supporting the ongoing success of one of Australia's most significant transport systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management and close-out of operational defects across the Sydney Metro network.
  • Ensure issues are assessed, prioritised and resolved safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations and operational requirements.
  • Work closely with operators, contractors, delivery partners and internal stakeholders to drive outcomes and remove barriers to defect resolution.
  • Provide clear oversight of risks, progress and key issues to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely decision-making and accountability across the network.

Requirements

  • Experienced leader with strong stakeholder management and contractor engagement skills.
  • Enjoys solving problems, making informed decisions and driving outcomes in complex operational environments.
  • Experience leading teams, managing contractors and working across multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of engineering or infrastructure operations.
  • Comfortable reviewing technical information, navigating contractual considerations and balancing risk, performance and business outcomes.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused leader who takes ownership, communicates effectively and enjoys working with others to achieve shared goals.
