About the Role

This role is responsible for the operational aspects of procurement activities, particularly in indirect purchasing, within UCB Japan. You will lead or support daily Source to Pay (S2P) operations, acting as a primary contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support daily Source to Pay (S2P) operations, serving as the primary contact for both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to purchasing processes (transactional and sourcing) based on UCB Global Purchasing Principles and Guidelines, considering country-specific commercial, statutory, and tax laws.
  • Develop country purchasing plans based on global category manager strategies, optimizing cost-effectiveness and negotiating local purchasing agreements aligned with business, legal, and financial requirements.
  • Realize potential total cost optimization opportunities and other cross-regional/cross-functional synergies by leveraging global purchasing category negotiation levers and agreements.
  • Identify, propose, and implement purchasing best practices in line with UCB's internal and external best practices, continuously improving transactional, operational, and sourcing processes.
  • Share goals and policies with stakeholders and collaborate to execute customer engagement strategies.
  • Convene global and external meetings, create minutes, facilitate discussions, synthesize opinions, and build consensus.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations.
  • Provide procurement P2P training to internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Autonomously create an environment for effective customer engagement activities, including collaboration with necessary stakeholders.
  • Build trust relationships at the representative level with necessary stakeholders for strategy execution and activities.
  • Engage in self-improvement to enhance skills for improved customer engagement.
  • Set appropriate performance goals and conduct self-evaluations based on understanding of expected roles.
  • Understand performance evaluations and autonomously pursue further challenges and performance improvements.
  • Contribute to building a highly engaged team and fostering culture by embodying desirable behaviors.

Requirements

  • Extensive purchasing experience of several years in indirect procurement, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven experience in achieving purchasing strategies through strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders, as well as employees.
  • Experience working in cross-departmental teams.
  • Familiarity with the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle.
  • Business-level English proficiency, capable of handling Q&A in global meetings.
  • IT knowledge: MS Office, SAP, Ariba, and ERP systems.
