About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work across our marketplace businesses, including Italist, HEWI, and DOZR. This role involves direct interaction with stakeholders to define requirements, build, test, deploy, and validate features, with a focus on owning the outcome rather than just completing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Take features from initial conversation to production, including scoping with stakeholders, building, testing, and shipping.
• Validate that features are live, working correctly, and achieving their intended effect.
• Build features across the full stack using JavaScript, including React for the frontend and Node.js for the backend.
• Develop customer-facing storefront features, internal admin tools, third-party integrations, and data pipelines.
• Context-switch between different businesses and domains, applying learned patterns across them.
• Utilize AI copilots for tasks such as parallelizing work, generating and reviewing code, writing tests, and automating repetitive processes.

Requirements

• Ability to talk directly to people who need something built, figure out what needs to exist, and then build, test, deploy, and validate it.
• Willingness to own the outcome of features.
• Comfortable sitting with non-technical stakeholders to turn fuzzy asks into scoped builds.
• Ability to push back when an ask is not the real problem.
• Generalist mindset, energized by switching between businesses, codebases, and domains.
• Excellent analytical skills and a passion for quantitative rigor.
• Ability to use data to identify problems, discover opportunities, and substantiate ideas.
• Willingness to fix issues and pursue opportunities proactively.
• Self-starter attitude, comfortable working in the weeds and overcoming roadblocks.
• Ability to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
