About the Role

AECOM's Water Resources team is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern to collaborate with experienced professionals on real-world projects. This internship offers the chance to contribute to flood studies, stormwater management, water quality assessments, and urban water design, gaining practical experience from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a range of projects, including flood studies, stormwater management, water quality assessments, and urban water design, under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Assist in delivering water sensitive urban design (WSUD), drainage design, and hydraulic modelling for varied infrastructure projects by compiling data, preparing inputs, and helping with draft deliverables under supervision.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to both local and national initiatives, contributing to coordinated and integrated solutions.
  • Support project coordination activities, help with report drafting and documentation, and observe or assist with client engagement, depending on interests and project needs.

Requirements

  • Must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • Must have an interest in working with water with electives in flooding, hydraulics or similar.
  • Able to work full time hours from mid November 2026 – mid February 2027.
  • Potential to continue on a part time basis after the summer internship, during your final year of study, depending on project needs.
  • Must have full working rights to work in Australia before applying.
  • Accepts candidates with student and graduate visas.

  • All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
