About the Role
The Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC) and Rising Tide Collaborative Health Home are seeking Family Physician Clinician Scientist-Practitioners. This role involves developing and sustaining an impactful research program aligned with the CBMC Research Mandate, while also practicing Family Medicine and contributing to the education of residents and students.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the education of residents and students through preceptorship, mentorship, and role modeling in a supportive clinical learning environment.
- Work with family physicians, medical learners, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver quality, coordinated care.
- Receive support from the CBU Office of Research and Graduate Studies for grant development, trainee supervision, research compliance, and program growth.
- Hold academic appointments at both Cape Breton University (CBU) and Dalhousie University through the Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC).
- Report to the Senior Associate Dean at the CBMC.
- Collaborate with the Associate Vice President Research & Innovation at Cape Breton University (CBU) to support health research growth.
- Collaborate with the Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Dalhousie University.
- Develop and sustain an impactful research program that advances the CBMC Research Mandate.
- Practice Family Medicine in the clinic.
- Contribute to the education of residents and students through preceptorship, mentorship, and role modeling.
- Collaborate with CBU, Dalhousie University, and Nova Scotia Health colleagues to advance research initiatives.
- Support and mentor medical students, residents, graduate students, and non-research faculty to undertake research.
- Foster a culture of research excellence, collaboration, and learner engagement.
- Obtain local, national, and international research funding.
- Publish in academic peer-reviewed journals.
- Present at local, national, and international conferences.
- Pursue leadership and academic career development opportunities.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
- Eligible for appointment to the Active Staff, NSH, Eastern Zone.
