About the Role

As a Director within HSBC's Global Network Banking team based in Sydney, you will lead and develop a high-performing coverage team, driving commercial performance, client experience, risk discipline, and colleague engagement. You will execute the coverage operating model, deepen client relationships, and deliver sustainable revenue growth while maintaining strong controls and conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of relationship managers and supports, setting objectives aligned to strategy, running weekly activity, and building capability through coaching.
  • Own the business strategy, sponsor key relationships, and drive origination and execution across core GNB solutions and complex finance projects.
  • Strengthen revenue conversion by running a disciplined pipeline with accurate forecasting and improving client experience.
  • Maintain a strong risk culture, including oversight and challenge, timely completion of reviews, incident management, and promoting a positive speak up culture.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across product, credit, risk & compliance, and other coverage teams to deliver coordinated outcomes.
  • Represent the team in governance forums and strategic initiatives, contributing to broader business priorities.
  • Lead the support team to achieve a consistently high level of service, streamlining processes, coordinating client onboarding and change delivery, and tracking key service metrics.
  • Regularly track performance against success measures including revenue growth, client outcomes, risk and control, and people engagement.

Requirements

  • Significant proven experience as a leader and Relationship Manager in Corporate & Institutional Banking coverage.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients and generating business across a full range of products, ideally in an international banking environment.
  • Strong track record of building and developing long-term client relationships with key decision makers.
  • Capability to develop and engage in strategic dialogue.
  • Proven people leadership experience managing a multi-role team including sales/coverage and support.
  • Ability to manage performance and build capability.
  • Strong knowledge of HSBC Group and products.
  • Strong network of contacts across all functions and ability to influence through good relationships.
  • Good record of proactively developing and originating client solutions, consistently exceeding client expectations through superior customer service.
  • In-depth analytical skills with a strong commercial orientation and focus on credit quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and autonomously to tight deadlines.
  • Advanced understanding of risk management and risk mitigation, with a track record of delivering growth through risk discipline.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Preference for candidates with Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or unrestricted work rights in Australia.
