About the Role

We are seeking a skilled technical leader to manage a team responsible for developing detailed transmission facility scopes for LCRA Transmission Services Corporation. This role focuses on improving grid reliability and enabling the interconnection of diverse energy resources, including solar, wind, and battery storage, to the ERCOT grid.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture based on safety, integrity, respect, initiative, and service.
  • Provide leadership and management for staff, including recruiting, performance evaluations, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Address department issues and employee needs while ensuring effective communication.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign project tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Lead complex projects and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control on engineering documents and drawings.
  • Ensure engineering records are accurately classified and maintained.

Requirements

  • Nine or more years of experience in transmission operations, maintenance, planning, engineering, or technology.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Degree in math, computer science, engineering, or a related field may substitute for some experience requirements.

Skills

  • Substation design experience (765kV, 345kV, and 138kV).
  • Supervisory, managerial, or project management experience.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Data analytics and workflow management using tools like MS Excel, SharePoint, Asana, or Jira.
  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting diagrams, schematics, and drawings.
  • Experience with Engineering Drawing Management Systems and CAD applications.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, laws, standards, and codes.

Experience Level

  • 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of post-graduate direct experience in the public utility industry.

Education Level

  • Degree in math, computer science, engineering, or related field.
