About the Role
The 4PL Area Manager is responsible for representing Flexport at external 3PL/4PL partner sites, ensuring adherence to SLAs, system requirements, and SOPs. This dynamic role involves forecasting coordination, invoice approval, and defining the 4PL operating model as the program scales.
Responsibilities
- Act as Flexport's primary point of contact for assigned 3PL/4PL partners, inspecting operations and ensuring adherence to SLAs for receiving, shipping, inventory accuracy, and packing quality.
- Coach and support teams of 30-100 at partner facilities, enforcing Flexport policies, SOPs, and compliance requirements, and driving corrective actions.
- Own performance reporting and serve as an escalation point for operational issues and cross-functional troubleshooting.
- Receive SNOP forecasts and share them with partners, confirming labor plans and capacity align with projected demand, and identifying risks.
- Ensure partners comply with Flexport SOPs, utilize the WMS correctly, and maintain safety and loss prevention standards.
- Capture learnings to evolve the 4PL operating model.
- Review and approve 3PL/4PL invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Document and define Flexport's processes for working with 4PL partners, including escalation paths, coverage models, and performance standards.
- Drive long-term network improvements.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience managing a team of 5 or more in a fulfillment, warehouse, or 3PL environment.
- Possess a valid passport and willingness to travel to partner sites, including internationally.
- Proven ability to hold external partners accountable without direct authority.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience building structure and process in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets / Excel.
