About the Role
As an Air or Ocean Operator, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth and timely air freight movements for our customers. This role combines hands-on operations, customer service, and documentation work helping deliver seamless supply chain execution while driving efficiency, volume growth, and profitability across our Japan gateway.
Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end air shipments, including receiving bookings and arranging shipments within SOPs.
- Input data into the system, complete MAWB and HAWBs, and ensure timely handling of files.
- Submit AMS or EDI (FHL/FWB) as required.
- Perform timely invoicing to clients/agents and confirm incoming invoices from sub-contractors.
- Provide customer service by following up on customer requests, claims, and feedback.
- Inform senior/manager of any irregularities or problems requiring assistance.
- Provide feedback on subcontractors' standards and services.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with international shipping regulations, company policies, and customer SOPs.
- Handle customer statistics and reports or any special requests for system improvement.
- Support data and system accuracy by keeping Flexport systems updated to meet KPIs.
- Collaborate with account managers, customers, and customs teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Identify and suggest process enhancements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Support teammates and take on additional tasks when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related fields.
- 1-2 years of experience in air operation or related roles in freight forwarding/logistics.
- Detail-oriented, structured, and eager to learn global supply chain operations.
- Customer-focused mindset: respond promptly and professionally to customer needs.
- Candidates must be flexible and open to work on weekends.
Skills
- Fluent in Japanese (excellent written and spoken communication).
- Good written and spoken English communication.
- Advanced system usage in the industry.
- International logistics systems (carriers, customs, warehouses).
