About the Role

Professionally provide guests with culinary and beverage information, assist with menu navigation, take orders, serve selected items, ensure guest satisfaction, and communicate effectively with team members. Responsibilities include payment processing and maintaining the restaurant area and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Know and speak eloquently about hotel, restaurant, food and beverage offerings, wine, beer, and cocktail selections.
  • Gain insights into guest dining preferences through verbal and nonverbal cues.
  • Be respectful and courteous to all colleagues and guests.
  • Maintain the ambiance and service standards of the hotel throughout the dining experience.
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Prepare room for dining by preparing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, polishing glassware, and polishing utensils.
  • Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording guests' choices, identifying guests' special dietary needs, food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
  • Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.
  • Serve orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices from bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service areas.
  • Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring about needs and observing dining process.
  • Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, maintaining beverage service and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Handle various payment options; total charges, issue bills, accept payment, deliver bill and payment to host, return change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.
  • Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting patrons to return.
  • Provide instruction and assistance to the server assistant in their station.
  • Resolve guest issues and complaints calmly and communicate all concerns to management.
  • Restock service stations as needed.

Requirements

  • Capability of offering a charismatic and friendly style of service tailored to specific guests and their needs, building a rapport with guests to establish future business.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to convey technical information through writing to a nontechnical audience.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle the fast-paced environment and effectively manage an assigned station to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Learn and retain product knowledge relative to the position on the floor.
  • Exercise personal discipline and extra diligence to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Flexible schedule - willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
