About the Role
CHANEL is seeking a national Manager, Alterations Trainer to lead the skills development of alterations team members across the U.S. This role involves technical skills assessments, recruitment support, training animation, and developing digital tool proficiency. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in alterations techniques, including specialized areas like leather and high-end pieces, and can effectively transmit these skills through public speaking and one-on-one coaching. The role requires collaboration with the CHANEL & moi team to enhance Ready-to-Wear services.
Responsibilities
- Assess technical and client relationship skills of the Alterationist population to map skill levels, identify gaps, and determine learning needs.
- Partner with Boutique Management and P&O teams in the recruitment process for new Alterationists, conducting skills evaluations.
- Evaluate Boutique Workshop efficiency, flows, technical equipment, and working conditions, coordinating necessary element orders.
- Develop knowledge and agility with key digital tools including ACET, Repair and Alteration App, and IFL.
- Contribute to the building and animation of the learning path for existing and new Alterationists.
- Transmit savoir-faire and rules to offer the Perfect Fit, ensuring respect for Creation and harmonizing alteration services.
- Animate technical training sessions and conduct follow-up with the Alterationist population.
- Co-animate and deliver CHANEL & moi seminars or training sessions on tailoring techniques and client relationships.
- Partner with the CHANEL & moi team to improve Client Experience and Boutique alteration KPIs.
- Act as a key point of contact for alteration savoir-faire at the Global and Regional levels, providing feedback for learning path evolution.
- Partner with learning and product teams to ensure knowledge sharing and retention among Alterationists and FAs.
- Complete the Global learning path to continuously develop tailoring expertise and training skills.
- Collaborate with the CHANEL & moi team in the creation of an apprenticeship program, including assessment and recruitment of Apprentices.
- Form and maintain strong relationships with key schools for apprenticeships.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of the Apprentice learning path and follow-up.
- Contribute to the creation of any potential Alterations school, identifying equipment needs and architectural recommendations.
- Identify needs concerning tools and Couture material for an optimized learning experience.
- Oversee workshop organization and technical management.
- Collaborate on recruitment for the Alterations School.
Requirements
- Expert fitter level of expertise.
- Passion for effective transmission of knowledge and skills.
- Excellent understanding of the CHANEL style and allure.
- Excellent mastery of sewing (tailoring and flou): at least 10 years of experience in a tailoring or alteration workshop.
- Mastery of morphologies, perfect fit, and fitting ceremony.
- Knowledge of the collections and ready-to-wear products.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding of, and passion for client experience.
- Strong training and presentation skills, and an eagerness to share knowledge.
- Relational ease, openness, tact.
- Autonomy, ability to plan and organize.
- Basic PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods, and bend, reach and kneel periodically.
- Must be at ease and flexible regarding local and international travel (up to 30% travel, international and domestic).
