About the Role
LCRA is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to join their team. This role focuses on dispatching internal resources, security monitoring, and sending critical incident notifications. Unlike typical 911 centers, this position does not handle domestic calls or EMD. The role operates on 12-hour shifts with a fair rotation system and offers opportunities for purpose-driven work with outstanding benefits and training.
Responsibilities
- Dispatch Law Enforcement personnel.
- Answer radio traffic, and non-emergency and emergency phone lines.
- Monitor various security cameras and alarm systems.
- Send notifications to LCRA employees about critical incidents.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Telecommunicator license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Public Safety Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC) Full Access Operator certification.
- Two or more years of experience in the operation of currently relevant security systems and public safety dispatch/communications or other relevant experience.
- One or more years LCRA Public Safety experience.
- Current certification in Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Driver's license.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required only for operation of Mobile Command Post.
- Must pass the CJIS fingerprint-based background investigation according to the State of Texas standards.
- Must remain current with all CJIS training requirements.
Skills
- Experience in law enforcement dispatching.
