About the Role

As a Senior Analytics Engineer/Data Scientist at Laurel, you will transform product and business data into actionable insights. You will manage the entire analytics lifecycle, from data ingestion and modeling to BI visualization and decision support. This role involves delivering self-serve insights using SQL/Python and embedded BI tools, and contributing to the design of scalable data infrastructure and patterns.

Responsibilities

Build analyses & automation using SQL/Python.
Run recurring ROI analyses and productionize repeatable jobs.
Define metrics and model data to create a reusable analytics source of truth.
Quantify and communicate Laurel’s impact to customers, preparing executive-ready materials.
Deliver customer-facing dashboards and translate findings into actionable insights.
Enhance data quality through validation tests, monitoring, and issue triage.
Design, build, and maintain Laurel’s Analytics Data Warehouse.
Create scalable ETL pipelines to ingest and process data from diverse sources.
Deploy and maintain Business Intelligence tools.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist.
Comfortable working with large-scale data systems.
Advanced SQL and Python proficiency.
Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
Proficiency in modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
Familiarity with data modeling, warehousing principles, and BI tools (e.g., Thoughtspot, PowerBI, Tableau).
Ability to build ML models and quickly prototype solutions (classification, clustering, regression, NLP) that inform product direction.
Cloud platform expertise (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Knowledge of dbt, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
