About the Role
Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) - Float to join their team. This entry-level position offers a dynamic work environment where you will travel to multiple outpatient clinics, providing essential support and outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Process referrals, schedule patients, complete intake, data entry, insurance verification, and authorization.
- Review patient benefits, collect copays, and handle arrivals and scheduling.
- Generate billing reports and closing reports.
- Coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
- Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete and accurate in the electronic medical record.
- Verify patient insurance and obtain necessary authorizations prior to visits.
- Explain benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies to patients.
- Collect patient responsibility payments at each visit.
- Scan and maintain medical documents.
- Reconcile and post charges daily, and generate reports for clean claim processing.
- Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
- Maintain office organization, order supplies, and manage mail.
- Adjust schedule to meet center needs.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.
- Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance verification is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, medical, or dental office administration is preferred.
