About the Role

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) - Float to join their team. This entry-level position offers a dynamic work environment where you will travel to multiple outpatient clinics, providing essential support and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Process referrals, schedule patients, complete intake, data entry, insurance verification, and authorization.
  • Review patient benefits, collect copays, and handle arrivals and scheduling.
  • Generate billing reports and closing reports.
  • Coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete and accurate in the electronic medical record.
  • Verify patient insurance and obtain necessary authorizations prior to visits.
  • Explain benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies to patients.
  • Collect patient responsibility payments at each visit.
  • Scan and maintain medical documents.
  • Reconcile and post charges daily, and generate reports for clean claim processing.
  • Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
  • Maintain office organization, order supplies, and manage mail.
  • Adjust schedule to meet center needs.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.
  • Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, medical, or dental office administration is preferred.
