About the Role
As an Account Director, you will be a trusted partner and point of contact for mid-level clients, collaborating with account leadership to ensure operational discipline, delivery excellence, speed to market, resource optimization, and profitability management. You will represent the agency professionally and passionately on a day-to-day basis, bringing value to clients through a deep understanding of integrated AOR clients and strong business and financial acumen.
Responsibilities
- Work integrally with internal team members to develop effective strategies and briefs that lead to great work.
- Influence the efficiency and quality of work and advocate for the agency/client relationship.
- Mobilize and drive the integrated team towards progress, action, and results.
- Effectively present work from a delivery standpoint.
- Serve as a mentor/coach and/or direct manager to junior team members, supporting their development.
- Understand and respect every department’s role in delivering great work and building relationships.
- Gain experience in integrated campaigns including video production, print, digital, and non-traditional mediums.
- Document all client and agency meetings and assist in managing budgets and finances.
- Manage projects, budgets, and timelines under the supervision of the account lead.
- Understand staffing and scoping requirements.
- Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans.
- Manage project progress and ensure smooth collaboration between disciplines (strategy, creative, media, production, etc.).
Requirements
- 8+ years of client-facing industry experience managing the delivery of great work in an agency environment.
- Strong understanding and experience with integrated campaigns across various executional channels and trafficking for TV, OOH, digital, social, Direct Mail, etc.
- Hands-on account leadership with a growth mindset and experience delivering integrated AOR experiences in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Understanding of the Canadian advertising landscape.
- Experience with new creative/concepts.
- Demonstrable knowledge of client and agency operations.
- Strong background in the strategy and development of programs.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Experience forming strong client relationships.
- Strong internal relationships, particularly with the creative team.
- Ability to listen well, read people, and adapt communication style accordingly.
- Accountability and a calm, confident presence.
- Experience with QSR or Retail is a plus.
