About the Role

Circle is building the foundational infrastructure for an open global financial system and is seeking a Senior Director to lead inorganic strategy, focusing on acquisitions, strategic investments, and joint ventures in payments, stablecoins, and institutional financial infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own working with product and business colleagues to understand landscape and positioning for deal evaluation.
  • Originate, evaluate, structure, and close acquisitions, strategic investments, and JVs.
  • Maintain a high-signal pipeline of acquisition targets, investment opportunities, and strategic partnership candidates.
  • Stay plugged into Bay Area fintech, payments, and AI to translate conversations into actionable strategic intelligence and deal flow.
  • Run proactive build-vs-buy-vs-partner analyses grounded in Circle's strategic pillars.
  • Lead the full deal lifecycle: initial evaluation, diligence, structuring, negotiation, close, and integration.
  • Coordinate and align cross-functional stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Product, Compliance, Engineering).
  • Write recommendation-forward analysis, alignment, investment memos, and board materials.
  • Structure transactions accounting for Circle's regulatory positioning, USDC liquidity dynamics, and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
  • Develop a synthesized view of the competitive landscape and translate market signals into organizational alignment.
  • Mentor and raise the bar for the broader CDV team on deal quality, process discipline, and strategic framing.

Requirements

  • 13+ years in corporate development, investment banking, growth equity, or strategic finance.
  • Led transactions end-to-end.
  • Deep, active network in fintech, payments, and/or crypto with genuine relationships in the Bay Area.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative instincts and ability to build and stress-test financial models.
  • Familiarity with generative AI models (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and prompt development.
  • Experience in crypto, stablecoins, digital assets, or regulated payments infrastructure is preferred.
  • Track record closing deals in fast-moving, ambiguous environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the AI ecosystem is preferred.
  • Experience working in or advising companies through regulatory complexity is preferred.
  • Prior corporate development experience at a fintech, crypto-native firm, or large-cap tech company is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with an Economics, Finance, Business, Technology or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite.
