About the Role

Instructors will implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated high school students using an original, student-centered, anti-oppressive approach. They will serve as a coach and facilitator, promoting depth of understanding and skill acquisition to support students' journeys to competitive colleges and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Teach four periods of ELA and/or Advisory, following provided lesson plans and meeting objectives.
• Utilize instructional technologies such as Brightspace, GSuit applications, and Zoom chat in a Blended Learning environment.
• Prepare by reading, internalizing, and practicing all provided lesson plans and materials.
• Implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on specific student needs.
• Calculate grades according to rubrics and provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback.
• Complete all grading within a 1-week turnaround and maintain an up-to-date electronic gradebook on Brightspace.
• Maintain responsive & restorative approaches to foster student connection to content and positive community relationships.
• Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check-ins, and debriefs.
• Respond to all emails and Zoom chats in a timely manner.
• Meet with assigned instructional coach at least twice per semester to receive and implement feedback.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a content-related field.
• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience teaching at the college or university level.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.
• Expertise and depth of knowledge in advanced high school-level English and Humanities subjects.
• Eagerness to engage in conversations analyzing the historical and continued causes of societal ills and challenges.
• Access to a reliable personal laptop that meets basic technology requirements.
